Living Environment Unit (LEU)
The Unit which is under the Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change carries out upgrading, landscaping and embellishment works across the country along with other Authorities such as the local authorities among others.
The LEU is headed by a Project Manager who is supported by a Deputy Project Manager and two Project Officers. The workforce of the LEU comprises Officers in the grade of the Inspectorate cadre and the manual staff posted on different sites region wise.​
Activities performed by the LEU include: 
Upgrading works at places of worship and public places.
Greening and Embellishment of M1 and M2
De-silting of rivers in context of Ganesh Chaturthi 
Works recommended by the National Task Force in context of National festivals such as Cavadee, Mahashivaratree, Ganesh Chaturthi, Pèlerinage Pere Laval and Eid ul Fitr among others.
Distribution of plastic bins, bags and gloves for clean-up campaigns
LEU has set up several green spaces / children gardens / health tracks / family corners. Some were handed over to Local Authorities for maintenance, while some are still maintained by the LEU, such as Le Dauguet, Citadel and Lallmatie Health Tracks.
The LEU has six small nurseries for plant propagation (Decorative, Medicinal Plants and Trees) situated at the yards of the LEU substations and same are used for the Ministry’s embellishment projects.
