Protocol for attending to environmental complaints received at the
Pollution Prevention and Control Division of the Department of Environment
The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development attends to complaints received from the public on environmental issues. A protocol for dealing with complaints has been devised by the Pollution Prevention and Control Division of the Department of Environmentto address and manage the environmental complaints.
It is important to note that the Environment Protection Act (2002) has made provisions for different Ministries/organisations to be responsible for specific medium (example air, water, solid wastes, odour, noise etc.). These Ministries/organisations are referred to as Enforcing Agencies. The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, apart from being the coordinating institution with the different Ministries, is also an Enforcing Agency for matters relating to air pollution.
Any person wishing to make a complaint pertaining to environmental problems may contact directly the relevant enforcing agencies at the phone and fax numbers indicated in the table link below.
